DOG FANCIERS
" VICTORY " RIBBON PARADE On Saturday night the kennel section of the Dunedin fanciers’ Club held a “ Victory ” ribbon parade in the King’s Theatre. The event was very well supported, proceeds going to the Comforts for fighters fund. The judge was Mr F. W. Pollard and the show manager Mr J. R. Smith. Organisation was excellent and entries good, both in quantity and quality. The Dunedin Ladies’ Brass Band played selections throughout the evening. The winners of the stakes classes, for which special ribbons were given, were as follows; —■ Puppy Stakes, under six months: Mrs Fendall’s Alsatian. Puppy Stakes, under 12 months: Mr Simpson’s cocker spaniel. Novice Dog Stakes: Mrs G. Phillips’s pomoranian. Novice Owner Stakes; Mr Crombie’s smooth fox terrier. Toy Stakes: Mrs G. Phillips’s pomeranian. Terrier Stakes: Mrs N. Speight’s Airedale. Sporting Stakes {not toys); Mr J. M'Gilvary’s cocker spaniel. Non-sporting Stakes (not toys) : Mr J. M'Gilvary’s bulldog. Open Stakes' Mrs G. Phillips’s pomeranian. Team: Mr Mason’s cocker spaniels. Women’s class (dogs to be owned and shown by a woman): Mrs Phillips's pomeranian. The special award for the best dog in the show was won by Mrs G. Phillips's pomeranian, and the ribbon for the best opposite sex by Mrs N. Speight’s Airedale.
