DUNEDIN COMMUNITY SING
At a meeting of the Dunedin Communitj' Sing Committee held yesterday the sum ot £l5O was voted for the relief of air raid distress in Britain. It was decided to hold the annual children’s community sing in conjunction with the weekly session at noon on August 29. The use of the Lmpue Theatre for this combined sing was offered, and was accepted with thanks. Friday will he a special day for commiraitv sing patrons at the Strand. Theatre. Miss Dorothy Woodroffe, ot Cambridge, and Miss Mabel Edwards, of Gippsland, Australia, two young women who have just completed a- long trek of 440 miles on horsehack, have consented to come to the sing. Two half crowns, separate issues in (he reign of King George 111. (1817), have been given by an old lady, who wishes i hem to be sold. Proceeds are for relief of distress in Great Britain, Offers and donalions may be sent to Mr J. E. Himburg, care Begg’s. Special items this week will
bo by Miss Doris Wilson, soprano, singing ‘ Here’s To Love,’ * Spring is on the Way, and ‘A Heart That’s Free.’ Mr H. P. Desmoulins will be the leader, and Mr A. Pctlitt will be at the piano. The son£ that is sweeping America and England, Let’* Get Together,’ will be on the programme.
