Mr J. J. Paul presided over the monthly meeting of the North-east Valley School Committee. The Education Board advised that the department had approved of a grant, for interior lavalories for the infant department and that the work would be put. in hand as soon as men were available. The Kcd Cross acknowledged £B, a donation which was made instead of having the usual school picnic. The head master reported the roll number at Valley as 430 and at Opoho 105, The result of the bring and buy sale held in May was extremely satisfactory, £7l 4s 8d being realised—£4o Os 8d at Valley and £22 4s at Opoho. The committee expressed thanks to all who helped to make this effort so successful. The City Fire Brigade turned out to a chimney fire in the Main South road, Green Island, at 6.32 last night.
