FORTY-HOUR WEEK
POWER TO ENLARGE VESTED IN COUNCIL (P.A.) WELLINGTON, June 10. A special meeting of delegates to the Wellington Trades Council last night passed a resolution protesting against the recent attack on the 40-hour week by the Chamber of Commerce and the Press. . . A resolution was passed emphasising that an Emergency Council had been set up on which the employers and workers were equally represented to deal with applications for an extension of hours, and the council had extended hours in all coses where it had been established that the increased hours would increase the country’s war effort.
