Miss Agnes Guy was reported to be organising, a • concert to be held in the Jubilee Hall on June 25, while the staff of A. and T. Tnglis were starting a produce stall in their store. The D.l.C.’s effort at the dugout had resulted in £65 being taken, and to this must be added donations amounting to £JS. The committee thanked the anonymous donor who drove up to the dugout and passed over a £5 note. General support was said to be forthcoming from all sections of the retail community, and many gifts of a nature suitable for raffling were being received. The N.Z. Fur Company had donated a fur coat' and an application to raffle this had been sent to Wellington. The Hairdressers’ Association were taking steps to assist the appeal. , , _ , The results of a number of raffles drawn are advertised. CARNIVAL ARRANGED BY BANKS, The staffs of the various trading banks in Dunedin are combining to hold a big carnival on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights of this week in the old King’s Theatre building in Dowling street. This carnival will be along lines similar to the All Sports Carnival which recently completed a season in the Garrison Hall. Every endeavour is being exerted to make this carnival an outstanding success, and the army of workers behind it has been tackling the project with the greatest of enthusiasm.
