Westclut ran into second place at the end of half a mile, and then took charge approaching the commencement of the final lap. The favourite then ran up and joined him. and as they raced along the back this pair drew well clear or Suspense and Traveltone. After rounding the far turn Royal Worthy was two lengths in; front of Westcliff, and easily maintained that margin to the post. Dan’s Pride, Courtcard, and Lustrous began the best of the limit horses, and passing the stand the first time Dan’s Pride iiad taken charge and led Lustrous, Cathay, Courtcard, and Rollicking (Rey. Both the backmarkers, Glenlee and Fransol, made up their handicaps quickly. Entering the final round Dan’s Pride was racing cleat from Glenlee and Lustrous, with Cathay and 1 Rollicking Rey also racing together next. Fransol ran round the field going along the back, and after rounding the far turn Glenlee dropped back and caused Cathay to break. -Dan’s Pride led into the straight from Fransol, Lustrous, Serapeum, and Courtcard, and in the run home scored easily by three lengths from Fransol. Coleen Travis and Joan Conquest began the best of the limit horses, and . they were followed through the straight the first time by Lisette, Loyal Emblem, and Trevathan. This order was not changed in the circuit, and as they entered the last lap Coleen Travis was racing just clear of her stable mate, Joan Conquest, with Lisette and Loyal Emblem next and Shadow Maid handy. With about two and a-half furlongs to go Shadow Maid met with some interference and broke. Coleen Travis led Joan Conquest into the straight, hut about halfway down the running these placings were reversed, and Joan Conquest beat Coleen Travis by over a length.
