MTherson had invited his friend M'Tavish to have a drink. “ Say when,” he said, hopefully, and poured out another drop. Again silence from M'Tavish. “ Did vou hear about Ihe fire at George’s? ” said Maepherson, suddenly. “ When? ” asked his friend, innocently. Maepherson put the bottle down with a sigh of relief.
