NAVY LEAGUE NOTES

The following letter has just boon received by the presidi nt from Admiral Fremantle. London :—“Jinny thanks lor your three cases, which arrived about ID days ago. at the same lime as a very large consignment from tin 1 Wellington Itranelt. We are indeed most grateful to. yon, and we .shall Had most useful outlets lor all your donations. particularly as we have recently taken over the provision of eoiulorts for tlie men of the Allied navies, and for the men of the nun-chant service. New Zealand has indeed shown her interest in the ißoyal Navy, in most practical forms, and I have boon very pleased to take rather specially under our wing the welfare of eight trawlers commanded by New Zealand officers, and was glad to see, in a recent Gazette, that the Now Zealand Navy came in for a good share of honours.” The committee wishes to reiterate its grateful thanks to all those who helped to make such a success of the “ bring and buy ” sale in tbe Sea Cadets’ Hall last week, to those who helped in the hall, those who sent gifts, in money and produce, and the many friends who came to see the exhibition of “ comforts,” brought produce and partook of tea. It may be of interest to know that, although largo consignments of “ comforts ” are now packed and ready to be despatched to the North Sea, the New Zealand minesweepers, and men of the Navy and Fleet Air Arm going overseas, more garments are being knitted and sent in so qnickly that it will bo possible to despatch another parcel very soon to the Merchant Navy. Acknowledgments, Thanks go to the following for gifts and work sent in May 2-B:—Bluff Women’s Patriotic Association (Miss Sinclair), Columba O.G. Assn, (Mrs Warded), (Roxburgh tiled Cross (Miss Michelle), Houipapa ladies, Waipori Falls, llatanui (Mrs Rodgers), Cara-brian-St. Bathan’s W.D.F.U., Mes-
