DIRECT HITS
ARMOUR-PIERCING BOMBS SCHARNHORST AND ONEISEHAU (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 8. (Received May 9, at 10.3 d a.m.) The R.A.F. last night raided Brest, St. Nazaire, and the oil refineries in the Ruhr and at Bergen. Two of our planes were lost. In a heavy raid on Brest direct hits were scored with heavy armour-piercing bombs on the Scharnhorst and the Gneisenau. The naval base was considerably damaged.
