WHIPPET RACING
NOTES AND COMMENTS [By Slipper.] The Dunedin Whippet Racing Club’s meeting, which is to be held at the club’s grounds at Tahuna Park on Saturday, will be a big day for whippet owners. The main event is the Autumn Cup Handicap. This should prove a good race, as all of Otago’s best will be contesting. Mr H. Fraser has Will Fyfe in splendid racing trim, and he should be in the money on Saturday. This dog did not reproduce his best last season. Mr R. Collins has his good bitch Osborne Beauty in training again, and she should lack nothing in condition. This bitch recently whelped a fine litter of puppies by Tamerlane. Mr A. Keenan, who recently sold his good dog Globe Trotter, has now purchased a promising youngster from Christchurch. He has also a nice-looking pup by Beaupartir—Gay Miss. Overcast, a full-brother to Bucks Head, will be a force to be reckoned with in the Autumn Cup. This dog will be a big asset to his new owner, Mr T. Greaney. Lady Chancellor shaped well at the last meeting. She is in good order, and should run well in future engagements. Mr G. Campbell has his two hurdlers, Arrowyn and Chief Ruler, in good shape. These dogs should be winners on Saturday. Mr C. Unwin 'has his star performer,' Hot Luck, in good shape. Although this dog is on the 3yds mark, he will be hard to head in the cup.
