CROQUET AT ALEXANDRA

The Easter croquet tournament, organised by the Alexandra Croquet Club, concluded on Thursday evening, when the championship was decided. Visitors were present from Geraldine, Methvcn, Oamaru, Dunedin, Gore, and Invercargill, a record number of competitors taking part. Mrs Williams, president of the Alexandra Club, extended a welcome to all present at the opening of the tournament. On Wednesday evening a very enjoyable party was held for the visitors and friends, and a most

sumptuous supper provided by the AlexKump'whiSt tvas played during the evening, and later in the evening the prizes won in the tournament were presented and complimentary tributes paid to Mrs J. M‘Donald, president of the 0.C.A., and Mrs G. Nelson, delegate for Alexandra. Special thanks were tendered to the bowlers, who had so generously extended the use of the bowling greens for the tournament. Following is the list of successful competitors;—Championship; Mrs Metcalf (Logan Park), by default from Mrs Kirk (Geraldine). Championship doubles; Mr and Mrs Kirk; runners-up, Mrs Millin (Punga) and Mrs Rankin (Logan Park). A grade handicap doubles: Mrs Millin and Mrs Rankin: runners-up. Miss Hercus (Punga) and Mrs Campbell (Logan Park). A grade handicap singles: Mrs Strang (Invercargill) ; runner-up, Mrs Rhodes (Leith). B grade open singles; Mrs Stewart (Methven) ; runner-up, Mi;s Melville (Caversham). B grade doubles: Mesdames Stewart and Rawlinson (Methven); runners-up, Mesdames V. Smith and J. Adam (Punga). B handicap singles: Mrs Sewall (St. Clair), Mrs Moore (Leith). B handicap doubles: Mesdames Stewart and Rawliuson; runners-up, Airs Burgess (Alexandra) and Mr Metcalf (Logan Park).
