Only tho population of the densest areas in Java will bo evacuated in case of war. In view of the threat of a mosquito plague, tho Netherlands East Indies Government has announced that tho construction of public open shelters temporarily has boon suspended and construction will only be resumed in case of actual danger. Tho Netherlands Indies Parliament has passed a 30,000,000 guilders (£5,000,000) appropriation for additional defence expenses beyond the 1941 estimates.
