At the Maori Hill. Presbyterian ChurcH on the Sunday evening prior to Easter, Stainer's ' The Crucifixiou ' was presented by the choir, which was augmented to a strength of 40 voices. Under the conduo torship of the organist and choirmaster, Mr H. Ashworth, the choir gave a very creditable rendering of this meditation oa the Sacred Passion of the Redeemer. . Tha various choruses, together with the several beautiful hymns which are included in this well-known work, received careful and reverent treatment. Assisting the choir, the soloists were Messrs E. -M'Dougall (tenor) and Lex Macdonald (baritone), both of whom were in excellent voice.
