Six months ago a ship in which Miss Phillips Acland, of Christchurch, was returning to New Zealand was lost as a ■ result of enemy notion, and no definite information about the fate of the passengers and. crew was received by the relatives. Yesterday Miss Acland’s parents, Mr and Mrs H. D Acland, received a cablegram from relatives of Mr Acland ia England stating that a message dated January 12 had been received from Miss Acland saying “ We arc quite well, and are being well looked after,” and adding that there was no need for the relatives to worry. Another passenger by the same ship was Miss Harcourt, of Wellington.
