TRIALS AT ELLERSLIE
(Pee United Pkess Association.] AUCKLAND, April 17. As most of the horses engaged at Avondale raced at Ellerslie, only sprinting work was indulged in at the final gallops at Ellerslie to-day. The course proper, with the poles 30ft out, was in first-rate order. Black Thread and Babrow reeled ofl three furlongs in 35 4-ssec, and finished on terms. , The best half-mile was credited to I>uvach, who finished clear of Golden Bonnet after running the distance in 49sec. Cherry’s Ticket beat Dependable over a similar distance in 49 2-ssec. There was nothing between Pirate King and Marshall Hall at the end of five furlongs in Imin 2 4-ssec. Happicoat ran a similar distance in Imin 3 2-ssec. ■ Sir Cameron and Brazilian traversed a mile in Imin 44 4-ssec, and Lou Rosa, alone, completed a similar journey in Imin 44sec, going comfortably at the finish. Other gallops over four furlongs were: June Tide 49 4-ssec, Pocket Venus and Golden Survey 49 3-ssec, Radiant Vaals and Balblair 49 3-ssec, Kadina 49 3-ssec, Clinch and Venture 50 3-ssec, Kawariki 50sec. Five furlongs included Aero King Imin 4sec, Surveyor General Imin 4 l-ssec, Lady Vixen Imin 3 3-ssec, Classis and Trebor Imin 4 3-ssec. Six furlongs: Royal Message, Ivy Willonyx, and Muscatine Imin 18 4-sscc, Chain Acre Imin 18 3-ssec, Valmint. and Lady Reynard Imin 19 l-sscc, Esquire Imin 19 4-ssec. Right Royal, Loyal Grant, Clooneen, Ring Shot, "Prival, and Paint were all schooled over the hurdles, jumping satisfactorily.
