EASTER CAMPS
PRESBYTERIAN BIBLE GLASSES The annual Easter camps of the Presbyterian Bible Class Unions were held at Camp “ Tirohanga,” North Taieri, and at Green Island. At “ Tirohanga,’’ where over 100 young men were in camp, addresses were given by the Rev. A. M. Elliffe, Mr A. M’Eachran, Mr R. H. Gardner, Mr H. W. Halgh, the Rev. J. G. S. Dunn, and Dr J. D. Salmond. The Rev. G. H. M’Neur spoke on the work and influence of Christian missions in China. The camp father was Dr Salmond, and the camp chairman was Mr C. K. Melville. The inter-Bible class athletic competition was held on Saturday afternoon, and was attended by a number of parents and visitors. The athletic shield, awarded for most points, was won by St. Clair, with Maori Hill a close second. About 75 young women camped in the Green Island School. The theme for the
camp was based on Ephesians vi., 10-18: “ Put on the whole armour of God.” Among the principal speakers were Miss V. Sutherland, of the Punjab, India; Sister Muriel Rogan, of Victoria, Australia; and the Rev. T. M. M’Donald. Mrs J. D. Salmond acted as camp mother, and also gave a scries of talks on the Apostles’ Creed. The study booK entitled ‘ Crusading ’ was written by the Rev. R. S. Watson, who was recently inducted to St, Andrew’s Church.
