Lieutenant-colonel A. Bongard, N.Z.S.C., GIS.O.L, Southern Military District, returned north to-day after visiting Dunedin on departmental Array business.

Hudson had been reappointed members of the Council of the Roval Society of New Zealand. Duncan, who. he said, had not missed one of the 53 annual meetings of the club. 3lr James George Race was this morning admitted by 3lr Justice Kennedy as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of New Zealand. The Otago High Schools Board of Governors yesterday appointed Mr E. Hayes, M.A., to a grade B position and 3fr C. C. A., was appointed to a grade D position in the Otago Girls’ High School for the year 1941. 3lr Vivian A. Miller, who arrived in Dunedin yesterday to take over the position of chief postmaster, was met by members of the staff of the Invercargill Postal District on Wednesday and presented’with a dinner service and a set of crystalware from postal officials throughout Southland. The gifts, which were handed over by Mr J, Cormack, senior supervisor of the telegraph branch, provided tangible evidence of the high esteem in which 3lr Miller was held in Invercargill.
