SENIOR CRICKET COMPETITION TWO FURTHER ROUNDS A previous decision to play senior matches on Anniversary Day (March 24) was rescinded at last night’s meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Cricket Association on account of some teams being unavailable, and a motion was carried that the Grade Committee be instructed to arrange for a further draw for two rounds of matches, these to be completed on April 5 if wickets were available. Failing that, it was decided that an effort should bo made to have a full day’s play on the last Saturday ,in March. The secretary (Mr E. S. Wilson) reported with regard to tho playing of matches on Anniversary Day that the University, Grange, Dunedin, Carisbrook A and B, and Old Boys’ teams would be able to field teams, and Kaikorai and Albion-Y.M.C.A. were unable to play on that date. The Chairman said that the alternative to playing matches on Anniversary Day would bo to extend the competition for four more playing Saturdays, carrying on until April 5 if an arrangement could be come to -with the Otago Rugby Union. Mr Binney said this would be fair to all teams. There were five teams within a few points of one another at the present time, and any one of them might have a chance of winning the championship. It was decided, as all teams would not bo available on Anniversary Day, to rescind the previous decision to play matches on that date. The Grade Committee was then instructed to arrange for a further draw for two rounds of matches as outlined above. MATCH WITH NORTH OTAGO. It was decided to advise the North Otago Association that it would he possible to field an Otago team against North Otago on March 24 at Dunedin, and in the event of North Otago being able to accept the fixture it was decided to instruct the selector to select the Otago team. It was decided to play the game at Carisbrook. MATCH WITH LEAGUE TEAM. Tonga Park was decided on as the venue for the game on Anniversary Day between the Otago Cricket League team and an intermediate grade representative side. In the event of North Otago not meeting Otago, tho game with the League team will he played at Carisbrook. NORTH-SOUTH GAME. With a view to giving as many cricketers as possible a game on Anniversary Day, it ■was decided to circularise the clubs, asking what.support would be forthcoming for a game between teams drawn from the north and south ends of the city. CHAMPIONSHIP CERTIFICATES. The secretary submitted a design for certificates to take the place of those previously awarded to tho champion teams in the lower grades. He mentioned that by securing a second 100 only 12s 6d extra tost would devolve on the association. Mr A. G. Valentine: It is just a question of whether players might not wear beards again by the time we have disposed of them. “ I think we’ll take the risk,” said Mr A. H. Allen.
