MANOEUVRES IN SOUTH CANTERBURY [Per United Press Association.] TIMARU, March 11. The war was carried into the South Canterbury district to-day when 2,300 men of the Territorial Forces took 71 art in manoeuvres against an “ enemy,” comprising two companies of various Territorial units which have been training at Burnham for the last seven weeks. Aerofilancs co-operated with the “ enemy ” by keeping touch by wireless and reporting the movements of the brigades. This is the first occasion on which the units have worked, together, and
the operations were designed to train the various units to work as part of a brigade under brigade control, to train the supply, transport, and medical services, and to maintain the units in the field under active service conditions.
