AIR ACTIONS IN ALBANIA
I ■, f R.A.F. HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL SEVEN ITALIAN FIGHTERS DOWN (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, February 21. (Received February 22, at noon.) Highly successful actions fought by R.A.F. squadrons over Albania yesterday are a feature of a Middle East communique from R.A.F. headquarters. This states; The R.A.F. was again very active in Albania-yesterday. A particularly heavy raid was made on Berati, where the barracks were badly damaged and a number of fires were started, followed by explosions. At Tepelini enemy stores and troop concentrations were successfully attacked and much damage and confusion were caused. The British bombers were escorted by fighters in these raids, and in engagements with the enemy seven Italian fighters were shot down without loss to the R.A.F. Other enemy aircraft were severely damaged. HURRICANES SUPREME DISPERSAL OF ITALIAN MACHINES LONDON, February 21. (Received February 22, at 1 p m.) Additional details of the successful R.A.F. actions over Albania are given in a communique from British beadquarters in Greece on the raid on Berat. It stated that the raid was carried out by a largo force of bombers escorted by eight-gun hurricanes. Enemy fighters which met the formation were at once engaged by the Hurricanes, and four were quickly shot down. The remainder were dispersed. Meanwhile the bombers pressed home their attacks, causing great damage and confusion in the town. BRITISH ARMED FORGES REGISTRATION OF NEW CROUP (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, February 21.
