UP FOR THE KILL.— For hours an Italian submarine was shadowed in the central Mediterranean by a British destroyer. Depth charges were dropped repeatedly. The submarine struggled on, but eventually conditions became so bad that she had to blow her tanks and surface. The hunt was over—there only remained the kill. A flying boat of the R.A.F. was overhead and took this photograph of the submarine breaking surface.
