PROFESSOR A. G. STRONG HONOURED A most delightful “ at home/’ given by the New Zealand Home Science Alumnae, was hold last evening in Allen Hall to mark the retirement of Professor Strong, O-B.H, as dean of the Homo Science Faculty. The largo hall, which was arranged as a lounge, looked charming with an abundance of beautiful flowers, exquisitely arranged. _ The guests were received hy the president of the New Zealand Alumnae (Miss S. Bagley) and the president of the Dunedin branch (Miss A. Stevenson), and by Professor Strong, who wore a most becoming gown of black lacc and carried a lovely bouquet of gladioli and roses, the gift of graduates throughout New Zealand. During the evening Madame Winnie Fraser sang most acceptably two brackets of songs, her accompanist being Mrs Gordon Donaldson, of Oamaru, and an orchestra supplied incidental music. Before supper was served Miss Bagley, as Dominion president of the alumnae, road telegrams fx-oni the various branches, and also presented floral tributes from Canterbury and Wellington. She spoke appreciatively of the splendid work done by Professor Strong during her 20 years as dean of the faculty, .and said how proud she must feel that one of her own students. Dr KHzabeth Gregory, had been chosen to fill her place. On behalf of the graduates of New Zealand she congratulated Dr Gregory on her appointment. She thou presented Professor Strong with gifts from the graduates of a hook containing all their signatures, a refrigerator, and a very substantial cheque. The professor replied in happy vein, thanking the alumnae for the lovely gifts and also for gathering together all her friends. She thou gave a delightfully friendly talk on what had been her aspirations m the past and her hopes for the future. A dainty supper, prepared and served by the graduates in true Homo Science style, was served, and guests had the opportunity of moving around and meeting with old friends in a most informal way.
