SIR HAMILTON HARTY Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, February 21). The death has occurred if Sir J-fanii'-tou Hnrty, aged 60, at Hove, Sussex. Sir Hamilton, who was horn in Ireland, was a soif-taught musician. On the recommendation of Sir Thomas Beccham lie became conductor of the Halle Orchestra, and in the 12 years he held this position he made it one of the finest musical organisations in the world. He was also known as a composer. and his ‘ Irish Symphony ’ has been hoard in public on many occasions. A few years ago Sir Hamilton visited Australia and conducted a series of concerts.
