When the Centennial Cup match was resumed this morning in threatening weather Weir (captain) ami Burke opened the attack to AHLeod _ (the visiting skipper) and I’. D. Wilson, who were not out when rain stopped play yesterday after Wellington had lost one wicket (Hepburn) for 28. Weir came off after bowling one over and was replaced by Clcverloy. The pitch was responsive to the spin bowlers but the wicket was easy, and by careful batting, aided by bad lidding, 50 had been hoisted when Wilson, with Ids score at 18, readied forward to smother an off-spinner from Burke and was caught behind the wicket_ by Jackman as was Hepburn the previous day. Crawford joined his skipper, who by the time (39 was hoisted had Jo opposite Ids name, including a straight drive and a. leg glide for 4’s in consecutive overs off ClovcrIcy. With 70 on the board Andrews replaced Clovcrloy. Crawford relished the new howler and got him away several times through the slip field. Crawford had added only one more single when ho was dismissed in a peculiar way. He played forward to a ball from Andrews and touched it. Before he could regain the crease the ball, which kept low, rebounded off Jackman’s pad and Crawford was given run out, althou'gh the scoreboard credited the wicket to Andrews on the basis that Crawford had not bit the ball and therefore was stumped.
