GERMANS' FEAR

BRITISH INHUMANITY It seems to be fairly well established that German pilots have been convinced, through the Nazi propaganda methods, that the British are inhuman beings who mercilessly mutilate any pilots who are unfortunate enough to fall into their hands. Writing from England recently, a doctor in one of the hospitals describes how a German machine was shot down in flames in a wood and the pilot taken prisoner.

“ He was badly burned about the face and chest.” writes the doctor, “ and he had a broken arm. He was taken to the hospital, and his face, including his eyes, had to be dressed and bandaged. A few hours later, when he had recovered from the shock, he told one of the nurses, in German, that he knew they had gouged out his eyes and cut off his feet. They told him, in Germany, that pilots were always treated in that way in England. “It was only the next time his face was dressed and he was able to open his eyes and was shown his feet that he realised that all was well, and that we are not so black as we arc painted by Goebbels and his fiendish propaganda.,”
