IHTERPROVINCIAL CONTEST ARRANGED NOTES AND COMMENTS [By Press.] Interest in weight-lifting lias been further stimulated by the arrangements for an interprovincial contest to be held between Otago and Canterbury teams at Christchurch on December 14. The sport is of comparatively recent growth in Christchurch, and the forthcoming fixture should give it a decided fillip. D. Freeman, who was runnor-up in the New Zealand light-weight championship at Wanganui, has been training every solidly in view of the coming match. Doug, holds the Otago middle-weight title. Stan Williams, Otago light-weight champion, will also make the trip. He has many good performances to his credit. “C. Blackledge has been training hard since the winter season, and has shown a big improvement in his lifts. Blackledge is one of the most stylish lifters in Otago. Murray Ings, one of the youngest competitive lifters here, has shown up well in local competition, and at the New Zealand championships at Wanganui he won the trophy for the most promising junior at tho meeting.
