ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
FATAL INJURIES. Fatal injuries were suffered by a waterside worker on King’s wharf, Auckland, when he was caught under a line of moving trucks and dragged for 25 yards. The victim was Francis Gray, married, aged 57, of Newton. Gray was standing at the edge of the -wharf near a crane when the accident happened. As the train began to move of¥ the wharf it struck a heavy loading basket, knocking it against him, and he fell under a truck. The train was made up of about 30 12-ton wagons and some seconds elapsed before the engine driver was aware of the accident. An ambulance was sent for, but Gray was dead when it arrived. THIGH FRACTURED. Elizabeth Harllwlch, a married woman residing at 114 Cargill road, was knocked down by a motor van yesterday in Rattray street. She suffered a fracture of the right thigh, and was admitted to the Hospital at 6 p.m. FALL FROM PLANK. When he fell from a plank while painting a building in the city yesterday, John, Ritchie, aged 65, of_ 23 Chambers street, suffered concussion. He was employed by W. 11. Naylor, and was admitted to the Hospital at 4.30 p.m. BOTH WRISTS FRACTURED. Mrs M. Shirley, residing at 31 Maitland street, was admitted to the Hospital at 10 o’clock this morning after fracturing both her wrists when she fell off a box at her home. MOTOR CYCLIST DIES FROM INJURIES. As the result of injuries received when his motor cycle skidded in shingle near Chcrtscy last evening, Cyril David Sutton (241, married, of Balfour Terrace, Christchurch, died in the hospital this morning. His brother, Alan Sutton (19), of Ashburton, also received injuries and was admitted to the hospital.—Press Association.
