Aotoa Club’s Tournament. King's Birthday was an ideal day for the Aotea Club’s special sealed handicap tournament. Over 90 entries were received from j various clubs. All games were 31 up, and five complete rounds were played, all partners being drawn. All players started from scratch with a scaled handicap, which proved quite a novelty. At the end of live rounds four pairs remained undefeated I and were drawn to play in the semi-final as follows: J. Robson and Miss Downing 45 beat Penson and Mrs Robertson 43. H. Colquhcun and Miss Duncan 44 beat S. M'Gimpsey and Miss Sharpe 43. Final: H. Colquhoun and Miss Duncan 46 beat Robson and Mrs Robertson 43. Dove Cup.—H. Facer and Miss D. Facer (owe 40) beat J. Robson and Mrs D. Loathley (rec. 3-6), 9-8. Ford Cup.—Standring and Miss Sutherland (owe 40) lost to Bilson and Miss Hanson (scr), 7-9: Ramsay and Miss Burt (scr) boat While and partner (scr), 9:4. Military Service. A large number of union players are serving in the military forces overseas as follows;—Aotea: Lieutenant D. MTnnis, Privates J. Begg, J. Gunning, A, Thornburn, A.
