HANDEL'S 'MESSIAH ’

This year's performance of the immortal masterpiece, * Messiah, which is to take place in the Town Hall on Wednesday, December 4, will be distinguished by ( the presence of an unusually line choir. This body of singers will be composed of the members of the Dunedin and Oamaru Choral Societies, which are combining for the occasion, as well a« representatives from the Royal Dunedin Male Choir, the Leech Lyric Choir, and the Returned Soldiers’ choir. Mr Alfred Walmsley is to conduct the concert, and he will have the 4YA orchestra under his baton, while Professor V. K. Galway will be at the organ. Madame Winnie Fraser will sing the soprano solos. Miss Joyce Ashton will be the contralto, and the tenor and bass roles are to be sung by Messrs James Hinton and Russell Laurenson respectively. The box plans will be opened on Thursday.
