THE NATIONAL PARTY
QUESTION OF LEADERSHIP SUGGESTION OF CHANGE [Special to the • Stak.’] WELLINGTON, November 6. A report from Palmerston North that the question of a change in. the leader* ship of the National Party was being discussed, with the possibility of Mr Si G. Holland (Christchurch North) becoming Leader of the Opposition, was referred to Mr Hamilton to-day. Mr Hamilton declined to comment beyond stating that the question is to be discussed at a meeting of parliamentary members of the party to be called prior to the reopening of the session on !Sovember 26. ••• ■ --.h i This development was not unexpected, as it hadl been understood that Mr Hamilton was not anxious to hold the position if a suitable alternative leader was approved by the party, though previous caucus discussions have ended in a unanimous resolution of confidence in Mr Hamilton. It is considered that any change of leadership would not affect Mr Hamilton’s position in the War Cabinet, which involves important _ responsibilities requiring daily attention.
