AUSTRALIAN AIRMEN INJURED
RENTAL GAR CRASH TYRE BURST PRESUMED [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, November 4. When returning to Auckland from a visit to Rotorua in a rental car just i after C o’clock this evening, six members of the Royal Australian Air Force were involved in an accident at Hillcrest, in which three were injured. Those injured were:— Leading-aircraftman Terrence E. AA’ado. aged 19, of Flinders Lane, Alelhourne; head injuries; condition fairly serious. Leading-aircraftman Arnold J. Raymont, aged 19. of Surrey Hills, Victoria; fractured pelvis; condition fairly serious-"■.ading-aircraftman AAUlliam Douglas AVillis, aged 23, of Alexandra Avenue, Canterbury, Victoria; facial abrasions; condition not serious. The car, which was being driven by Leading-aircraftman Claude Alurray Ross, was running down tho Hillcrest hill, on the outskirts of Hamilton, when a tyre burst or some other mishap caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. After striking a telegraph polo the car stopped outside a petrol station in a smashed condition. The three injured men were conoyed to the Waikato Hospital. Leading-aircraftman AVillis will be discharged early to-morrow morning. The others in the car. Ul.adingaireraftrnan Ross, Kenric Alurray, and Stanley Charles Alurtirner, each aged 19, were unhurt.
