GUARD OVER BEAU VITE
POLICE TAKE SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS WARNING OF ANOTHER ATTACK AIELBOURNE, November 5. (Received November 6, at 1 p.m.) The guard over Beau Vite was strengthened last night, because of a warning received by the police that the horse would not be permitted to start in the Melbourne Cup. Because of the reliability of tl:»! first warning some time ago, information that another attack is contemplated has been taken very seriously by the police. There will be an unprecedented number of police on special duty, at the course to-day to guard against any desperate attempt. The police were informed that as a last resource an attempt.would be made to wound Beau Vite while he was going to the barrier, or when waiting for the start of the race. Two armed policemen now remain with Beau Vite in his stall and four accompany him out of the stall. Air Stewart, owner, said to-day that he had received a cable from an American syndicate offering £IO,OOO for Bean Vite and had replied that he was not interested.
