0. HENRY'S DASHING CREATION Few characters in fiction have won the instantaneous popularity ot the Cisco Kid, O. Henry’s dashing, lovable outlaw, who “could shoot five-sixths of a second sooner than any other man.” Given life 011 the screen a decade ago, the colourful caballei 0 of the old South-west won millions of tans, and, recently revived, the Cisco Kid PJ°* misos to prove one of the most popular and perennial of all screen favourites ‘Viva, Cisco. Kid,’ the latest of these colourful films, will open at the Grand tomorrow night. This will comprise the uiajoi pan of the first specially-selected programme to celebrate the eighth anniversary r.t the theatre under the direction ot Amalgamated Theatres Lid. Played by Cesar Romero in this new Twentieth Cen-tury-Fox series, Cisco is interpreted by an actor as handsome and dashing as the romantic desperado himself. Romero, that very versatile “ Latin from Manhattan, fils perfectly into the shining boots of the Cisco Kid. First portraying the part in ‘ The Cisco Kid and the Lady,’ he brought to the. character so much colour and gaiety and charm that the fans immediately clamoured for more. This demand is thrillmgly met in the new film. .. A moment after he has sworn oft all senoritas for all time, Cisco meets a lovely damsel in distress in the person of pretty Jean Rogers, and promptly forgets Ins decision. Fie risks his neck a dozen times to rescue her from a band of cut-throats, faces a murder charge, and is left for dead in a mine cavc-in. Gordito, the fat and faithful companion of all of Cisco's adventures, is again much iu evidence in the 2351 b person of Chns-I in Martin, who scored so decisively in ‘ Ihe Cisco Kid and the Lady ’ as the lumbering, laugh-provoking Mexican who provides the perfect foil for the dashing Cisco.
