SEAS ABATING
BUT BEACHES HEED WATCHING OPENING DAY AT ST. GLAIR TO-MORROW Under the supervision of the St. Clair Life Saving Club, which will open its season to-morrow afternoon at 2.15, bathing between the flags on this beach should be quite safe. A calm sea was running this morning, and the temperature was favourable. A large quantity of sand has been taken away, leaving a few channels, but the selected strip is safe. Although rough on Thursday and yesterday, seas at Tomahawk were moderating to-day, but the water was still cold. Bathing is quite safe between the flags, where the beach is in good condition, but rips and holes are dangerous outside the marked area. It is essential for intending bathers to keep strietlv to the flagged strip. St. Kilda beach is in good order, and the water is fairly mild. There is no area flagged as yet, but with reasonable care the beach is quite safe for bathers.
