ASTAIRE AT UNIVERSAL
Fred. Astaire, the screen’s No. 1 dancing star, has been acquired by Universal for a special production entitled ‘ Special Delivery.’ Universal’s top producer,' Joe Pasternak, will make the picture, and! the company’s ace director, Henry Koster, will direct it.
With this superlative set-up Universal will naturally go the limit in budgeting the production, and it will be one of the company’s most costly films for the 1940-41 season’ Several writers are at work on the script, which will be based on an original story idea said to be both unique and sensational. The plot and locale will he later.
Supporting cast and other details of production are as yet undetermined, but it is probable that several of Universal’s leading contract stars will appear with Astaire in the picture. The dance king at present is starring in a Paramount picture ‘ Second Chorus.’
