ST. CLAIR WOMEN'S CLUB
Tho St. Clair Women’s Club met on August 26, the vice-president (Mrs Douglas Barton) being in tlie chair. Mrs I-’. Bardsley and Mrs P. J. ilendel had charge of tho evening. Members bad looked forward to an entertainment; arranged by these popular performers, and wore not disappointed. The programme was mostly of a patriotic nature, and consisted of jolly songs and choruses, old and new. The stage, which was beautifully decorated with Hags and red, white, and blue streamers, was made doubly attractive by the gay costumes worn by the party. The following programme was presented:; — Marching song, by the party, ‘ Fall In and Follow Mo ’ (leader of the band, Airs Bardsley); 1 Diggers’ Song,’ composed and sung by Airs P. J. Ilendel;
‘ Soldiers in the Park ’ and ‘ Changing of the Guard,’ Airs F. L. Lawrence; ‘ Great lied Dawn ’ and ‘ The Purity Brigade,’ Airs T. J. Smith; ‘Lords of the Air’ and ‘Grenadiers,’ Airs J. Eustace; ‘ Drummer Boy,’ trio (Mcsdames J. Brooks, D. Paine, and T. Davie); ‘ Drums on Parade,’ Airs J. APLachlan;’ ‘ Hose of No Alan’s Land ’ and ‘ Long, Long Trail,’ Airs Hoskin; ‘ Kiss Ale Goodnight ’ and ‘ There’s Something About a Soldier,’ Airs J. 11. liiode; musical monologue, ‘ Be Britons,’ Mrs .1. W. Thomson; ‘ llomance,’ Miss T. Thomson; ‘ Land of Hope and Glory ’ and ‘ There’ll Always Be An England,’ Airs M. Llobson; ‘ Good-bye,’ Mrs T. Davie; duet in character, ‘ We Saw tho Sea,’ Airs ilendel and Airs Bardsley. Numerous choruses were sung, and a patriotic tableau, with Airs J. Morris as Britannia, completed a cheery and stirring evening. Airs Chas, Thomson was a most capable accompanist, and Airs Norman Anderson thanked Airs Ilendel and Airs Bardsley on behalf of club members.
