CORBETT’S OUTSTANDING ABILITY

KATAN'S ONLY CONQUEROR KEEN INTEREST IN COMING MATCH (Specially written for the ‘ Sport# Special.’) Ortly wrestler in New Zealand to hold a victory over John Katan this season, Joe Corbett has proved that his good looks may be a target for the other wrestlers, but that any attack on him bring# quick reprisals. Corbett has established a great following this season, and the manner in which he has responded to the call for shock tactics has made him a great drawcard. Against John Katan, the handsome Bostonian really showed outstanding ability, and he is keen to add another victory against the British Empire champion when they meet at Dunedin on Thursday next. This is a match that should provide some of the season's highlights. Both men are fast and skilful wrestlers, and both are adept with jolts and tackles. Katan’s season has been particularly successful, and he is eager to

avenge the only loss he has r-tilered this year. But he will have his hands full, *as Corbett recently beat tha rugged cowboy, Dick Raines, by two falls, and showed that when the going is tough he is able to foot it with tha best. New Zealanders have seen exceptionally good wrestling this season, tha men having been evenly matched, and with Blomneld, Katan, M'Cready,. and Corbett holding the edge in decisions it is easy to envisage grand matches from that quartet. When Corbett came to New Zealand he was rated as the most handsome wrestler in the sport, but the fans in New Zealand were not so .much interested in his appearance as in his ability to wrestle. In a season that has been marked for close and tough matches ha has proved his worth, and is confident that his Dunedin match against Katan will be something to talk of in seasons to come.
