OVERSEAS SHARES QUOTED RELAXING OF RESTRICTIONS Following on the relaxing of the restrictions, shares uii the Australian register wera called on the Dunedin Stock Exchange this morning. The limitations on dealings in theso shares were fully explained m the 'Star' yesterday. There are one or two companies, however, with both a New Zealand and an overseas register, which may not be quoted as yet, but the position regarding these will probably be clarified Within a few days. They include mainly loan and agency companies such as Dalgety's and National Mortgage. Business in Australian shares opened quietly for the most part, the mining department receiving the most attention. More sellers of New Zealand Government issues ar» coming forward, quotations being fairly firm at late rates. The same tendency was noticeable in other lines, notably insurance. MUTUAL STARR-BOWKETT SOCIETY ANNUAL MEETING The Otago Mutual Starr-Bowkett Society held its annual meeting last night. The chairman ot directors (Mr T. Irvine) presided. Reference was made to the death of Mr A. J. Allen, and a motion of sympathy was carried. The adoption of the annual report and balance sheet was moved by the Chairman, •who aaid No. 2 group was almost ready to be wound up. No. 4 group had given the directors some concern, and it was hoped to gain more members so that loans could he offered at more frequent intervals. Mr H Harris seconded the motion, which was carried ■ Messrs H. Harris and W. H. Adams were re-elected directors, and the retiring auditor* (Messrs R.. Hanning and Son and Mr J. T. Hamann) were re-elected. In No. 3 group a free loan of £SOO was offered, cluster No. 32 being drawn, held by one shareholder.
