There is no doubt whatever that the white feather is a sign of cowardice. More and more of them are coming to light, and each one that appears is additional proof that the sender is something worse than a coward. The latest was sent by post with a note to a Dunedin man who received it this morning. The note read: ‘ ‘ Remember, no girl admires a man who will not fight. It’s time you did your bit to protect your own and not leave it to tfie other fellow.” The handwriting betrayed a frantic desire on the part of the writer to get “ out from under.” It was obviously disguised, and fairly masculine. But the cowardice was not in doubt, although none of the reflections will cling to the recipient in any honest eyes.
