CENTENNIAL DRAMA COMPETITIONS

Drama eiithusiasts will be interested in the forthcoming competition for- the production of one-act plays under the auspices of the National Centennial Committee. Generous prizes of £SO and £2O are being offered for the two winning teams in the: final' festivalv to be held in Wellington about, July 25, while sertmfinal eliminations are 'to bo held in Dunedin,. Christchurch, Wellington, and Auckland earlier inf July* The four winning teams of these conifests will proceed to Wellington :to take part in the final. Besides donating prizes, the National Centennial Committee has. agreed to pay‘ the traveiling expenses of the four winninjj teams. . . The festival in Dunedin will includo teams from North Otago and Southland, as well as from Dunedin and surrounding districts; The' arrangement* for the Otago festival are in theihand* of the local branch - of the - British. Drama League, and all information may ; be obtained from the secretary* G. A. Douglas, Musselburgh Risei ‘ The Otago branch of the/. British Drama League are also having theiF usual contest for. junior teams, but th* winner of the junior test will .not ba eligible for the-final test-in Wellington* With such favourable conditions for players (there is.no limit whatever, t<* teams and players except that, each play must have at least four, speaking parts and be within the time limit), ai large number of entries are expected' from all over Otago and_ Southland. .lit many cases earlier outlying elimination festivals may ;be necessary to . seleci. the teams to proceed to Dunedin. ,
