How a young man’s heroism saved the officers and crew of the steamer Harmanteh, which was wrecked in 1938, was told to-day, when Martin Lee was presented by the Royal Humane Society with the Stanhope gold medal fop the bravest deed in the past year. The vessel during a storm struck rocks in the Messier Channel, and Lc* volunteered to take a line ashore by, scrambling over the rocks. He accomplished this despite being washed back once by the heavy seas. He also rescued a seaman who was swept into the waves while helping to erect a breeches buoy. All the men in the ship were brought safely ashore.
