Gene Autry has become one of the most popular of the screen’s baud of singing cowboys, and the reason is there for all to see in ‘ Git Along, Little Dogies,’ which is being shown at the Strand. A highly-paid American radio and screen combination, the Maple City Four, also add their quota to the musical side of the programme. The story centres on the proposal to dig an oil well in the cattle country, and romantic interest is provided by Judith Allen. Hazel Ascot, an attractive little English dancer with an engaging personality, has the leading role in ‘ Stepping Toes,’ the second film. STUNTS IN THE AIR. ‘ Vacation From Love,’ the next Strand feature, teams two of the most promising young players in pictures, Dennis O’Keefe and Florence llice, for the first time. Here is a picture which affords both Miss Rice and O’Keefe the kind of roles actors dream of playing. The story, by Patterson M‘Nutt and Harlan Ware, is a succession of comedy situations in a basically strong plot. Also featured in the cast are Reginald Owen and June Knight, who introduces a new song, ‘ Let’s Pretend It’s True.’ Monogram’s latest film is ‘ Stunt Pilot,’ in which Marjorie Reynolds stars with John Trent and Mil burn Stone, Others in the cast include Wesley Barry, Jason Robards, Pat O’Mallley, and" George Meeker. The film is one of the popular 1 Tailspin Tommy ’ series.
