THE LATEST AMENITIES SHOP-BLOCK AND ARCADE [Pbr United Press Association.] % AUCKLAND, February 13. The Army is now in possession of a modern.shop-block which has been built at Papakui'a camp, and the soldiers are enjoying the amenities of an arcade which contains not only a dry canteen, but also a barber’s shop, a tailor’s shop, and a photographic store with its own dark-room and developing plant. They will soon he able to use the new wet canteen and a spacious picture theatre. Workmen continue at high speed to make Papakura into the largest and best-equipped mobilisation centre the country has ever seen. When it is completed this military town will consist of about 200 buildings. The wet canteen is already finished. It is a large hall where the men will be accommodated in cafeteria fashion at tables and chairs for about 500. Along one wall runs the bar, with provision at one end for serving soft drinks, coffee, milk shakes, and hot pies. About 600 men will he able to use the picture theatre at a time.

About 40 buildings are now being erected as a third battalion area. These dormitories, lounges, kitchens, messrooms, drying-rooras, and so on axe probably destined for the artillery units when they are transferred from Ngaruawahia, and it is expected that they will be completed by the end of March.
