EUROPE FREEZES. LONDON, February 13.—Winter continues to grip Centra! and North Europe. Snowdrifts accumulate-ns coal stocks and food supplies dwindle throughout Germany. The temperature in Berlin offices and dwellings is .Arctic. Overroated and nuifflered citizens huddle indoors deprived of heat. .Snow fell ■in Holland, where the average temperature is 3t)deg below freezing point. A number of steamers broke through the ice sheet between Sweden and Denmark and battered their way through the Elsinore Channel, but their wake froze up. The police returned to Sweden tourists who yesterday crossed the ice, alleging contravention of the migration and customs regulations. Fifty vessels ere ice-bound on the coast of Norway and 50 are locked in harbours.
The temperature of East Norway is oldeg below zero. A blizzard has buried the Balkans in 3ft of snow. A snowstorm on the Black Sea has brought navigation to a standstill. AUCKLAND TROTS.
