ST. JAMES
A melodrama, ‘ Within the Law,’ and tho hilarious comedy, ‘ Topper,’ aro tho two attractions at the St. James, and they combine to make a first-rate entertainment. ‘ Within the Law ’ tells tho story of a young girl who is wrongfully accused of a crime and made to pay the penalty When she emerges from prison she determines to have revenge on the man responsible, and devotes her life to this end. How she uses the man’s son as the weapon and is eventually caught in her own web when she grows to love the younger man makes a deeply appealing story. Thorne Smith’s novel, 1 Topper,’ is the subject of the next film.
