TAIERI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY
MONTHLY MEETING There was an attendance of 29 members at the monthly meeting of tho Taieri Agricultural Society. Mr D. Wallace presided. Before proceeding with the ordinary business the Chairman referred to the death of Mr Robert Shennan, who had been a strong supporter of the society. The customary tribute of respect was accorded the deceased. The Outram Domain Board wrote thanking the society for its donation. The letter also intimated that in future the rent of tho ground ■would be £lO 10s per annum.—lt was decided to offer tho Domain Board £5 5s per annum. It was decided to grant the sum of £5 5s to the fund for the equipment of the'Women’s Rest Room and Plunket Room in Mosgiel. The Royal Agricultural Society of New Zeaalnd wrote about show dates for 1940. It was decided that the annual show be held on Saturday, November 16. The secretary submitted a balance sheet of the last show. This showed a credit of £Bl. Mr Walker intimated that Misses F. and N. Walker wished to forego the cup won by them at the show.—The thanks of the committee to be conveyed to them for this gesture. Congratulations were extended to Mr A. Walker and Mr A. Struthers'on their success at the .Royal Show.
