Mr J. A. Lee, M.P., left this morn-» ing on his way north, Mr J. R. Hanah, Mayor of Invergill, travelled by the through express this morning on his way to join the final draft of the second echelon at Burnham.
Messrs J. S. Hislop and H. H. Sykes were passengers by the express this morning, en route to Wellington. Mr O. Herman, M.A., left this morning for Christchurch, where he has been appointed to the position of assistant in charge of the Waimairi Model School.
The staff of Messrs Downie Stewart, Payne, and Forrester met yesterday afternoon to bid farewell to Mr William H, Reid, who left to-day for camp with the third echelon of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Mr P. L. Lindsay made a presentation to Mr Reid on behalf of the staff, and wished him the best of luck and e safe return. Mr W. P. Forrester also expressed regret at losing Mr Reid’s set*
