FLAG DAY COLLECTIONS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —1 was asked by a lady with a collection box for a contribution towards comforts to be provided for our soldiers going overseas and had to turn the request down as far as the shilling badge was concerned, but weighed in with a smaller coin, for the simple reason that it was not convenient for the writer to come to light with a shilling'at the time. Would it not be a better method if all who contributed a silver coin received a badge, so that the collectors would not 'be put to the trouble of going to people who had already contributed, even in a small way? Some people resent this, but it is nobody’s fault, except that the wrong system seems to be employed to my idea. Everybody has not go even a shilling to spare, especially those with a family that is almost a kindergarten as regards numbers. My suggestion regarding collections is worth considering.—l am, etc..
