Df Halliday Sutherland, M. 8., Ch.B., M.D., noted British author, physician, and lecturer, left this morning for Invercargill, where he will repeat his address, ‘ How Nations Die.’ From Invercargill Dr Sutherland will journey to the West Coast to visit the glacier region. He will conclude his tour of New Zealand with a lecture at Auckland on February 20. The Right Rev. L. S. Kempthorne, Anglican Bishop of Polynesia, is expected -to arrive at Auckland by the Mariposa on February 17 on his way to attend the General Synod of tha Church of England at Nelson. Mr B. 6. Coughlan, who has been employed in the Public Library in a temporary capacity for the last two years, has been appointed to the permanent staff. Advice has been received -in Auckland of the death of Leading Writer C. W. Poulson, of the navgl mine sweeper Sphinx, which was damaged in an enemy air attack last Saturday, and subsequently capsized while being towed to port in heavy weather. Leading Writer Poulson, whose home was in Middlesex, served for three years in New Zealand waters in H.M.S. Achilles.
