MUSIC STORE GUTTED
DAMAGE ESTIMATED AT £IOO,OOO Press Association—By Telegraph—Coypright SYDNEY, February 4. Nicholson’s music emporium, in the heart of George street, Sydney, was gutted by fire early this morning. A large stock of pianos, pianolas, radios, band equipment, and sheet music- was ruined. Five floors were reduced to ashes, and the damage is estimated at over £IOO,OOO. The fire spread to Hordern Bros.’ department store adjoining, but it was subdued by automatic sprinklers, which caused heavy damage in the dress and manchester departments. Fire brigades had the fire under control after four hours’ strenuous and hazardous work.
